Curran Foundation

Is a charitable trust established through St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney.

Funding for Healthy Skin Fiji has been generated through private donations specifically for this purpose through the Curran Foundation.

Dr Margot Whitfeld

(Dermatologist) MBBS DTM&H FACD

Dr Margot Whitfeld is an experienced dermatologist, having worked at St Vincents Hospital in Sydney for more than 20 years, including 10 years head of department. She has been a part of the team that has set up the Pacific Dermatology Training centre, and the education of the doctors training to be dermatologists who come through Tamavua Twomey Hospital and the Pacific Dermatology Training Centre.

Her Interests in supporting people with albinism in Fiji began in 2014, with an early partnership with the Fiji school for the blind. Since then, she’s been involved in education, promoting community education about the health and welfare concerns of people with albinism, particular as far as educating the community about the needs of this group of people with their unique visual and skin concerns.

She’s been involved with global health dermatology for a long period of time and the skin health of the people of Fiji as a priority.

Seveci Leawere

Seveci Leawere is a part time assistant project officer who helps to support the ministry of health in Fiji and the care of people with Albinism.

Seveci has been working in partnership with the Fiji Albinism project group and the Healthy Skin Fiji group since 2017.

He helps coordinate distribution of donated and purchased sunscreens, hats and glasses to people with Albinism while supporting them on their journey.

He is a kind gentle man who is also assisting in obtaining information about the number of people with albinism for the ministry of health and medical services so they can better allocate resources as required.
